Raspberry bareroots. How often to water?
#EuropeanRedRaspberry
Hi guys, been trying my hand with raspberry bareroots, so I'm just wondering if anyone can share some advice on the watering regiment? My propagation room been abuzz pwith buds of bareroot canes greening up. It's only been Day 4, so that's a good thing I guess? :))
How often do I give these fellas water? Well..Greg tells me to water on Saturday(8 days) but I'm unsure coz surely bareroot requirements are different from actual plants? I think even if they're showing green sprouts, but their root systems are just probably rebooting and setting up.
Some additional info
Raspberry bareroots are given a solid good drench after potting
-Type of pot: fabric grow bags (12cm diameter)
-Medium: 1 part potting soil and the rest are mostly perlite, coarse river sand, rice hulls and burnt rice hulls.
-Bareroots are soaked in rainwater for an hour prior to planting

Hi, Izzu! When you say bareroot, are these stem cuttings? When I was propping mulberry cuttings recently, my soil was VERY well-draining, but I kept it moist.
You are ultimately in control of your plants and even if Greg says one thing, you can do another.
For the first three or four weeks, you are TEACHING the app how you care for your plants. If you water, mark it as "watered" in the app and it will learn that the plant needs to be watered more often. (: I'm glad you found Greg!

Oh bareroot plants? They are a little more advanced than stem cuttings. Bare root plants are plants that have been grown in the open ground, then dug up and transported during their dormant season so they can be transplanted.
But between cuttings and bareroots, I think they are pretty similar at this stage coz both kinds may well still not have functioning root parts as yet. My bareroots raspberries seem to be 'waking up' with all the green buds opening up.
Mulberries! I've grow them before and they are very rewarding! Ah about the soil. How often do U water your cuttings? I'm just slightly concerned if the soil dries out as they grow within this two week period
And Greg does make fairly accurate watering reminders. I was so impressed that I subbed.
