Hi Christine, it looks like it need more water or humidity. I havenβt owned a Boston fern but the ferns I have it is hard to overwater. I had to water my maidenhair fern almost everyday or she would start getting crispy even though she is located in my bathroom which is more humid than the rest of my house. I couldnβt keep up with it. I finally repotted her into a huge pot and mixed in sphagnum moss into the potting soil. So it holds onto water a lot better than the original pot. Now I only need to water her every week or 2 and she doesnβt mind being so moist all the time. And no more dried out fronds. She has doubled in size to fill the pot. But you might have to experiment a little for the Boston fern.
Your Boston fern might be suffering from either overwatering or underwatering, both of which can cause droopy leaves. This plant thrives in consistently moist soil, but it should never be soggy. Let the top layer of soil dry out slightly between waterings. Another important factor is humidity, as Boston ferns need high humidity to thrive. You can increase the humidity around the plant by misting it regularly or placing a humidifier nearby. Also, avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight, which can dry it out. Keeping these factors in balance should help your fern recover.
