How to save my #PrayerPlant

My #GreenPrayerPlant has been looking real sad for the past few weeks. It’s gotten very cold. May have abandoned it for a while but I assumed it didn’t need much water bc of the cold. Watered it, propped the leaves. Cut the yellow ones off. Kinda just want to throw it out no need for this non sense in 2025 πŸ˜‚ prayers for my prayer plant #help #SadPlant
4ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 week ago
Prayer plants like the soil to be consistently moist. Top inch of soil needs to be moist but not water logged. Curled leaves can happen also if the plant is in a temperature below 60 F
@ZingGoldenhill I must’ve let it get too dry. My house is always about 70 degrees. So do you think it will come back to life? Or do I chuck it?
Curled leaves like that will never come uncurled. Wonder what would happen if you cut the stems down to the top of the soil and see if new growth would come from the stems πŸ€·β€β™€οΈπŸ€” they like high humidity also so the plant likes to be misted should it come back
Uh oh, prayer plants HATE to be ignored. They are one of the pickier plants unfortunately. Here are some tips if it bounces back or if it doesn’t and you want to try again.

1. Interior walls, they hate temperature fluctuations. An area that has the most stable temp is best.

2. Consistently moist, but not wet either. Never let it dry out completely or else ☠️

3. A humidifier would be great, but I have 8 different varieties that do fine in my dry weather. You could always add a pebble tray for a bit of humidity.

4. NEVER use tap water always use distilled they are very sensitive to added chemicals and again ☠️, if not provided distilled water.

5. Liquid fertilizers they require it they are really heavy feeders.

6. Light but not direct sun otherwise their leaves will burn. Grow lights are best for these.

I do think she has a chance but it will take A LOT of time and patience. I would consider propagation it may be faster.

If you cut a few stems below a node and place in water roots will start within a week. It’s really easy for these.

Otherwise put her somewhere that you don’t have to look at her all the time (but don’t forget about her completely). I used to do this when I had a plant that didn’t look appealing and it really helps so that you don’t get sad when you see it, your not tempted to poke at it and it can truly test and recuperate. One day you’ll look at her and she will have new healthily leaves and you’ll be proud to display her.
@ZingGoldenhill ok I will try that. And put it in my bathroom & see what happens. Thank you!!
@SuperbRaspfern thank you for the tips! Maybe I will try to propagate it and put it in my bathroom.
@SuperbRaspfern the stems are very flimsy. Do you think they will still root?
I do think they will root even though flimsy I attached a photo with a circle cut below and keep the circled part below water and you should be good, keep the leaves on they will still help even though they look bad
@SuperbRaspfern thank you so much!
You’re welcome let me know how it goes πŸ™‚β€οΈ. It’s all a learning process you’ll get there
@SuperbRaspfern here we go πŸ™πŸ½

I wouldn't throw it out yet This was my fishbone prayer plant a few weeks ago I had it hung over a radiator thought I'd killed it I misted it quite a lot moved it somewhere not as hot This is today's pic all better I'd give yours a little more time Keep the soil moist I've always used tap water stood in a container for a few days And this is my green prayer plant I've had a few years I've to water that more as it's in a Terracotta pot so the soil drys out quicker Good luck with yours
@Chevysgirl11 wow! Your prayer plants look amazing. I left one of mine by the fireplace and she is about to keel over on me. I moved her to be with her β€œcool” friends (hope they share some humidity. She is not happy, but she came back from the dead before. Don’t give up yet!!!
She’s cold
@clairsheart I think you’re right. I moved her about a month ago bc I needed to put my Xmas tree up. I chopped it to propagate and put it in my bathroom and some of the leaves are uncurling. Now I kind of regret chopping it 😩
@ZingGoldenhill update- I chopped and propagated and some leaves have uncurled!
Hi Budding avocado I have the same plant and I can tell you what happened with mine. It seemed to pretty much die at one point, after transplanting to a larger pot.I returned it to the old pot and cut it back completely.I was pot without a visible plant. I watered it a little not even totally regularly just hoping something would happen. Eventually I saw a few spikes of tightly rolled leaves poking out of the soil. Well ! That was thrilling! I started regular care and here is a photo of it now. Before I trimmed it and repotted it I moved it away from the window (east facing, very hot in summer being on the 8th floor) and it is now in well lit but indirect light. I rarely give up on a plant and this is not the first I’ve brought back from the dead (all down to the amazing resilience of plants) and it paid off. Here is a photo of my plant and frankly I am finding it a little out of control and messy looking if anyone can help advise on that?
