Jade prop from leaf
When a jade leaf falls off, should I place it IN the soil for propagation or just set it on top to encourage pup growth? I found this guy had fallen off at the plant shop while purchasing pots and I snagged him up! I just put him in a new pot. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PropagationStation #SucculentLove #NewPlantMom

I would just lay him on top, β€œear hole” down. They sprout babies at the base. Spray when dry (every other day). Or you could water propagate.
@Hypsie Thanks for the info. Can you explain this water prop setup you have? I’ve seen a few posts similar to this and wonder if the bottoms are actually in the water? It’s hard to tell in photos.
@GreenWitchRN oh good question. This is the first time I tried this way. The props sit just above the water.
πŸ˜‚I do the same thing and snag cuttings but they usually die, serves me right
@Jilliebeanstalk πŸ˜† Look, these things happen! I hate seeing plants go to waste. When I worked in an office building they’d replace the plants and THROW THEM OUT. Can you believe it?! They finally just started bringing them to me because they saw me rescuing them near the dumpster.
I’ve never had a successful water prop. I would place on top of the soil with just a tiny bit of the end in the soil.
@CultivateEdu love these!!! Mine ALWAYS die, I give up. My fiancΓ© calls these graveyards when I do this. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@GreenWitchRN that’s amazing. Free plants!!
@Jilliebeanstalk 🀣 and 😒 at the same time.
@CultivateEdu Those babies are beautiful! #propgoals
@GreenWitchRN I’ll post mine when I go back inside. It’s def sad πŸ˜”
@Jilliebeanstalk You wanna see sad? Wait till I post my husband’s cactus that he’s sworn he’d tend to and asked me to be β€œhands off”. He’s already killed one. I’ll tag you. Off to work for now. Gross…
@GreenWitchRN this was FULL two weeks ago
These are all that’s left of my succulents. Except for jade, my jade is great.
@Jilliebeanstalk oh and flap jacks
@Jilliebeanstalk awwwe πŸ₯² keep trying. Put them in good soil. I use Miracle Grow’s cactus & palm soil. People say not to water until roots appear, but for most leafs, I moisten the soil before roots and place them in a warm place but not in direct sunlight. For non succulent leafs, I use spagnum moss in a vented carry out container. About your husband’s plants, I would skip the cinnamon (never had much positive come of it) and cut back on the water. For your remaining succulents, they look like sedums; this plant type likes watered even less then Jade. I hope that helps! The flapjack, Jade, and haworthia looks great! 🀩 keep it up!!
@GreenWitchRN thank yooou πŸ₯°
