I just noticed small mushroom in the soil! Help!

Mushrooms growing in your indoor potted plants are typically not a problem. (Some brands of potting mix are notorious for containing mushroom spores).

Although they could be an indicator of waterlogged potting medium (which may lead to other problems for your plant) mushrooms won't harm your plant. They feed on organic matter in the potting mix and are not in competition with your plant for nutrients.

However, if the potting mix isn't draining well, it could eventually lead to root rot. Consider the presence of mushrooms as a message from your plant - about the soil, humidity levels, airflow, or lack thereof - and he's reporting on his current conditions so you can make the necessary adjustments.

Some people find mushrooms cute and leave them, others remove and scrape off the top layer of soil etc.
