Why do the leaves look like that?

I've just adopted this little guy #Caladium hoping to be able to revive it. It looked so sad there, in the shop, surrounded by other happy plants πŸ₯Ί

Any ideas what to do to help it get better?
2ft to light, indirect
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 years ago
He’s in pretty rough shape πŸ₯Ί but I would make sure that he doesn’t dry out too much, and that he stays out of direct sunlight. If/when he starts showing signs of new growth, I’d cut off that one smaller leaf. And when new leaves finally emerge, I’d cut the larger damaged one so that the plant directs more energy into new growth. πŸͺ΄πŸ’š
I second @saatwood.

I'd say the poor plant was lacking sun and water
@saatwood and @PlantMompy, thank you for your suggestions!

The soil is quite wet, I would even say a bit too wet.

I guess all I can do for now is trying to keep it moist, putting him out of direct sun and cutting off the bigger leaf and 🀞🀞 it recovers!
It could be over watered and sunburned. The leaf looks crispy, but is it actually mushy?
It's kind of crispy at the very edge and mostly on one side but the rest is mushy. The stems are sturdy
It could probably benefit from a repot too, but I’d avoid doing that until it seems more stable and shows signs of growth. Don’t wanna traumatize the poor dear any more than it is already 😩
Yeah, I think so too
@saatwood a small update: I followed your advice and cut off the bigger leaf. And now (I don't know if you can see it) there's something new appearing there! πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯³
