Hey Keimonee I think you plant my be waterlogged. Suffering from over watering. The soil around the roots is probably so saturated with water it is preventing oxygen from getting to the root system. I know from the information you provide that someone told you to keep the roots moist but by the way the plant looks I think it’s too moist. Not to worry you can save him! I would start by moving him to a well ventilated area with bright to moderate direct sunlight to help dry out some of the soil. I would also not water it until the first 1.5-2 inches of soil is dry. If in few weeks if you don’t see improvement you may need to look at the roots and remove any roots that look black and mushy. Since you have only had him for two weeks though I don’t think it’s that extreme of a problem yet. P.S. not an expert but this is what I would do! 😁
@Shazam94 🤦🏽‍♀️I just got it last week and the roots were in a thick soil and I knocked it off and put it in here it’s well draining soil and it’s in a terracotta pot 😭
That will all help with getting the excuses water out of the soil. I would just give it some time to adjust to its new environment!
@Shazam94 🥺ok but if the new leaf begins to turn yellow should I try to prop the stem or would it be too far gone ?
From the photo the new leaf looks healthy. Should be strong enough to help the plant get through the transition to a new environment. If the new leaf starts to turn yellow I would check the roots and mix in some perlite to the soil to help with drainage. Right now it looks like it just needs some time and patience to gain it’s momentum back.
@Shazam94 ok thank you so much☺️
Anytime! I have had a few plants that I have brought back home and didn’t adjust well at first. Sometimes you just need to give it time.
Hi! If this is happening less than a week after purchasing, it’s extremely unlikely that it has anything to do with anything you’ve done. Phew, sigh of relief. Now the task is undoing whatever happened at the nursery!

It’s great that you gave it a well-draining soil. The next best step is to get it in a *super* bright spot, right up against a window. This will allow the plant to soak up all the sun it needs to recover!
@Kiersten I only have a SW facing window and I live in Maryland would a grow light help
Grow lights are great I use them since I don’t have windows that get a lot of light as well.
@Shazam94 ok great thank you ☺️
