What critter tried to munch on my cactus & agave??! 🌡😩

My Blue Glow Agave has been through a lot lately... it just had to be emergency repotted due to rain overwatering and now it's been munched on πŸ˜“.

Looks like whatever ate it just took a nipple and didn't like it and then tried munching a few times on my poor #opuntia Maverick #cactus.

My only thought was a rodent or squirrels..πŸ€” the plants are both located on the ledge of my outdoor deck... and are the closest ones to a nearby tree and power lines that go across the back parking lot.

Thoughts?

@RJG Didn't you have squirrel bites taken out of one of your cacti earlier this year?

I think this has to be something with teeth like you said, and not any kind of bug.

I have never had to ward off squirrels so I'm not sure how one would go about repelling them, but surely someone here has a solution so your poor buddies don't keep getting chomped on
@tmbryant37 just out of my Lithops
Almost looks like deer or maybe squirrel
@SirLiquorice @RJG Omg it must be a squirrel! We have a couple that hang on the trees in the back.

Ever since the stray cat I was feeding stopped coming around they've been more daring. And I have no idea they ate cactus, great another pest to worry about outside! 😳

It's definitely not a deer because if you look at this Pic, my deck is on the second floor. Can't imagine a deer in LA walking up the steps to my back deck to munch cactus. Lol

Although, I appreciate the visual, @SirLiquorice I can't stop laughing now! πŸ˜…

Not sure the squirrel will try it again since they obviously did not enjoy munching it but is there anything I can do to ward them off... Maybe planting an herb they don't like?
Do you have these giant grasshoppers? This guy ate my bunny ear.
@Kace wow that’s impressive they can eat with all those glochids
@roxyvivien it’s probably just a really tall deer. πŸ˜‚ A hybrid from a regular deer 🦌 and a giraffe πŸ¦’ mating
Dang! They're still pretty though! I love that Agave! I think that's what @YammieOf3 was trying to get me to buy a couple weeks ago!
My squirrel did not ever return to the Lithops. It learned its lesson
@roxyvivien I think @SirLiquorice is spot on.
@roxyvivien @SirLiquorice this thread was the highlight of my morning! Thanks guys🀣🀣🀣
@SirLiquorice it took a few bites out of my pencil cactus too. I’d guess there’s a good chance it died after that. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
@RJG Good to know! I'm guessing it doesn't like Agave and decided a bit late (after 4 chomps! ) it didn't like Oputina either! 😝🚫🐿️
@jaysjungle If you grow outside I'd go for it! They are gorgeous slow growers! 😍 Hard to grow the agave inside tho and give it enough light and breeze.
@jaysjungle Oh, and outdoors in ground or containers, it's cold hardy down to about 25 degree F. 😁
@FirstCanna agreed! πŸ’― - @SirLiquorice I'm dead! #plantjokes 🀣🦌😳
@roxyvivien thanks! I'm zone 8a/8b so I'd have to so containers and bring in when it gets below 25.

Working on a succulent area under grow lights for winter. Currently all tropicals inside.
@Kace My Calico kitty would have loved for the squirrels to eat my Cat Tails Euphorbia! πŸ˜…

She hates the squirrels with a passion - they taunt her through the window and she angrily chirps at them with frustration... But lucky for the squirrels mycat tails are tucked away on my wooden plant rack shelves behind some semprevivum. 🀣
@RJG I don't know why your comment made me lol
I just pictured you with a shotgun or a squirrel on a skewer πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
@ManyLime Ahhhhhh hey girl! Missed you. And you're not far off. In the outfit @AwesomePlants likes to imagine me in
@RJG
Missed you tooπŸ’š
