Struggling Bromeliad
This little one is potted in a blend of succulent mix, sand, and sphagnum, but is just dry and crispy and sad - even moreso than in his photo. He’s getting lots of light. Help??

Yes, right in the middle of the leaves. Just once every couple of weeks empty out that cup and give her a fresh refill πŸ’¦πŸ₯°TBH I live bromeliads and have a few myself πŸ’ž
Might be that he’s over watered do you have more pictures of him currently?
He looks sunburned to me? Like maybe a less sunny spot?
Pet peeve of mine is people who recommend watering Bromeliad plants improperly. They are basically an air plant that cling to trees and should only be watered in the center cup of the plant. The putting soil really doesn't matter so long as they have a place for their roots to cling to. Bromeliads like bright indirect light, I have several and they're beside and east facing window.
Emmy, let your baby dry out and just keep water in the center cup of your Bromeliad and every couple weeks empty that "cup" and give Yoda and fresh drink!
I hope this helps, happy growing πŸ₯°πŸŒ±πŸŒΏπŸ’›
@Theghostgirl a current photo!
@Sassylimey When you say the centre cup, do you mean their little foliage cup??
@Sassylimey That’s fascinating! Well I’d watered her yesterday because the last time had been a WHILE. I’ll let her dry out and then do that. Do they like humidity as well?
Mine have done ok with and without my humidifier, I don't keep mine in any direct sun, they get a little sun first thing in the morning but none after that just bright indirect light.
Keep me posted on Yoda @emmybee πŸ₯°
@Sassylimey I definitely will! I moved him to my bathroom, which is (weirdly) where all my happiest plants are. Indirect light all day, no AC, humid but not artificially so. I’ll water his little cup as soon as his soil dries out a bit and we’ll go from there! Thank you so much!
@Sassylimey After a relocation, a good spray of air plant food, and using your watering technique, Yoda is beginning to seriously perk up!
Oh Emmy I'm so thrilled, yes Yoda's looking much better, good job. Keep up the great work πŸ₯°
