Hi @RuggedMizuna27!๐
Calatheas are quite sensitive plants, and it is not always easy to know what is the best way to treat them. It could go both ways.
In my experience I would say it is a good idea to repot sooner rather than later after you buy it, as the soil from the nursery often witholds too much moisture when moved to a home. So to avoid root-rot you should repot in a well-draining soil that also keeps some moisture and only water with rainwater or destilled. The pot needs drainage and should not be much bigger than the roots now in the first place.
It might affect the new growth a little. Usually they will stop growing for a few days until they have get used to the new soil and environment. If the soil and placement and water is right, it should continue growing after a week or so. ๐ชด
The smaller "leaf-nodes" that are still in their "capsule" usually handle a repot better than leaves that have already started unfolding.๐ฑ
