Im a new plant mom and I just don’t know what I’m doing w...

#NeonPothos
I’m not quite an expert but how often have you been watering up to this point? And have you repotted recently or added fertilizer?
I water once a week. And I have not repotted or fertilized
What!!!? I just saw you are in Atascadero!!!!! I'm in Paso Robles!!! Nice to meet you. 🩷

Do her leaves feel soft thick and squishy? Overwatering

Or do they feel thin and papery? Underwatered

Not that it matters but that is not a Neon it's a Golden pothos. It doesn't really matter either way they both need the same care. But a neon is very yellow.

Some Pothos tips:

Very well draining soil I use:
1/3 peat moss
1/3 perlite
1/3 orchid bark

Always allow them to dry between waterings. 🩷
I forgot once you get her back on her feet add a pole for her to climb if you can. It keeps them happier 🩷
@SuperbRaspfern oh my goodness!! That’s amazing! And thank you for clarifying!! They definitely feel squishy. Can it be overwatered even if the top soil is dry?
@SuperbRaspfern so beautiful!!!
@EmyW Yes some soils, like Miracle Grow will appear dry on top and along the sides. But remain wet and mushy in the middle. Miracle Grow is the worst about this. Try sticking your finger as far into the pot as you can near the middle. If it feel cool, damp or soil sticks it's still wet.
@EmyW Thank you 🩷
Golden Pothos, also known as Devil's Ivy or Epipremnum aureum, Golden Pothos is known for being easy to grow and low-maintenance, making it suitable for beginners. It prefers well-draining soil and bright, indirect light, but can tolerate lower light conditions. But here's a fun fact did you know that you can grow them in water ! Take a healthy cutting from a mature Pothos plant, ensuring it has at least one node (the bump on the stem where leaves and roots emerge).
Container:
Place the cutting in a clean glass container filled with water, ensuring at least one node is submerged.
Nutrients:
While Pothos can survive in plain water, adding a diluted all-purpose liquid fertilizer can provide essential nutrients for healthier growth.
Maintenance:
Change the water every couple of weeks to prevent stagnation and provide fresh oxygen to the roots.
@EmyW I heard moisture checks described as picking up an empty cup vs. picking up a full cup. Once you start picking them up when they’re really dry, you really get the feel. You can go closer to two weeks without water, I think.
I’m not even sure at this point how many Pothos plants I have but I’ve put fine steel wool and river rocks on the too of the soil on all my plants (to prevent fungal gnats) but it has significantly helped with dry soil… I’ve experienced the same thing as you and I even repotted a few out of desperation… if you used miracle grow I suggest repotting with at least coast of Maine and then topping with rocks
