Leaves are turning red and witty
I recently picked up this jewel orchid cutting and the plant seems fairly healthy, but recently these lower leaves all started wilting pretty dramatically. This is my first experience with this plant and I am not sure what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated! #JewelOrchid #helpneeded #OrchidLovers #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

@mal9 thanks so much for your response! I will try to give it a bit more humidity (though the room is at about 55% usually). I also just realized that my little space heater that I use to regulate temperature in the cold months (it is still freezing here) had quit working, so perhaps it was responding to a drop in ambient temperature as well. I am hopeful though because all of these things just seem to be pointing to being a bit temperamental and not dying!
So I propagate these regularly and the old vegetation always dies and the plant looks like it will die or has died and boom it comes back from the soil. I literally planted a Hoya compacta with the old soil from a jewel orchid cutting and I have two jewel orchids coming up in them. I never send mine out anymore until all the foliage has died back and new growth comes up from the soil, I’ll follow with pictures
See that new growth by the stem? That’s the new plant that can be traded or sold. See how the rest died?
All of these are losing ( canabilizing) their leaves and making new plants now but are not ready to go
Jewel orchids never die but they move way slower than we want
Hoya compacta in old jewel orchid dirt lmao
They need high humidity, looks like it dried up?
