Do you prefer bottom watering or top watering?

Should you alternate at a certain point?
What are your thoughts?

I do both i top water almost all except my African violets
It depends on the plant for me. Most of them I water from the top. Some of them I water from the bottom. It depends on the plant and where it's located. A lot of my seedlings I water from the bottom.
Since my environment is really dry & my soil mix has a lot of aeration, I water most of my plants about 2x per week. I usually put everyone in the bath tub, let them soak a bit in fert water, then spray them down to flush the pots & get rid of any buildup salts/minerals. When I have to do a mid-week watering I’ll bottom water out of laziness 😜
Top watering always. Bottom watering just takes too long for me. I think as long as you’re watering when your plant actually needs it; either method is fine. You can overwater with both top or bottom watering so it’s up to the plant parent to know when to water.
i top water most of my plants except the ones that can’t get water on the leaves at all costs, mainly bc bottom watering wastes a lot of water and takes too much time for me. i use systemics that work in the soil too so I don’t have to worry about gnats :)
I noticed my Calathea prefers bottom watering. Same with my Fittonia.

My Monstera I top water...

My Marimo Moss ball sits in water so I don't gotta worry about that little guy.

I also top water my chain of hearts, polka dot plant, polka dot begonia, and my variegated sweetheart Hoya leaf
