#HoyaHeads — what’s your favorite Hoya and why?
I’ve fully jumped down the wormhole of Hoya madness these past few months, and I’ve decided that if I’m going to be obsessed with a plant species, it’s gotta be Hoya. 😂 And as I’m getting serious about my Hoya collection, I’ve stumbled across some cool finds as of late!
Fuel my obsession—tell me about your favorite Hoya(s)! Why is it your favorite? How long have you had it? Has it bloomed?! What do the blooms smell like?!?!
My fav at the moment would have to be my Thomsonii Pink. I’m a sucker for anything with fuzzy leaves, and I think the Thomsonii is so cute! I’ve only had it as a lightly rooted cutting for a few months, so no blooms yet, but fingers crossed!
Pic of a larger Thomsonii below for reference! And attaching my Hoya collection—let me know if we have any in common! I’ve got a few cuttings on the way that I’m pretty stoked about.

@idkstephs SO pretty!! Love those huge leaves! I remember the first time I saw an Obovata IRL the thickness of the leaves shocked me. Like little coaster lol 😂 but beautiful.
@RJG that’s cracking me up 😂
“Hey, we have this like really important job of choosing the name of this plant, should we make a reference to its place of origin, or perhaps who discovered it, or maybe—“
“It got big leaves. Just call it Hoya Big Leaves.”
“We can’t do that, we’ll sound lazy.”
“Okay then, just put it in Latin. Nobody’s gonna know.”
“They’re gonna know.”
“Latin is a dead language, we’re fine.”

@ChummyPlantMum ahh I love those! They can have the most beautiful colors as the grow—especially when they sunstress pink!! What a lovely little plant. Congrats on your new Hoya baby!!
Omgeee, can you do a list of the #SansevieriaRabbitHole . You making me want every single Hoya 😁
@jaysjungle ahhh I have a Bilobata (not the same as Burtoniae I know, but definitely similar!) and I love it! And great choice with the Obovata Splash!! But I agree, it’s so hard to pick 🤪
@NewGrowth yaaaay my job is complete 😜 is t the Chelsea so cute?! Like little soup spoons 😂 If you ever get a Retusa I’d love to see pics!! Such a quirky and fun Hoya!!!! Enjoy the Krimson Princess, classic for a reason 👑
@hoyahead yes so cute! I’ve finally got it potted up in a clay hanging pot in a South-East window. So excited. So nervous. 🥺🥹
@hoyahead I've been looking for Bilobata and DS-70, both commonly mixed up with Burtoniae! Maybe we should swap some cuttings in spring!
@jaysjungle I’d love to!!
I really want a Hindu rope… like it’s at the top of my wishlist! 💚💚💚 @hoyahead
It’s so pretty! I have a similar one, the Krohniana Splash, which is my only hoya… and I’m in love. 😊 It came in the mail a month or so ago and has been doing great every since. I’ve always wanted a Mathilde but can’t find one for a reasonable price near me so I’m waiting! 😅 The Splash has held me off so far lol
I own Fungii, Merrilli, K Princess, Compacta, Mathilde (not shown):Carnosa Green, potsii and Pubicalyx. My fungii is my fav as it flowered first and has huge fuzzy leaves. Second is pubicalyx (I think this is so hard) as it was my first ever Hoya and grows like a weed. Third is Knprincess for her gorgeous variegation
@jaysjungle - I’m also searching for a Bilobata.
@HoyaAddict I have a small Fungii starter (rooted cutting) coming in the mail this week!!! Ah now I’m even more excited!
@hoyahead Yes! It’s such a happy plant! Grows massive leaves and is slightly fuzzy! You’ll love her 💚
