Why is my cactus growing these roots?

Hi #cactusclique, it's me again πŸ‘‹πŸΌ.

My #dragonfruit cutting from @Colin has taken off! But, it seems to be growing roots (?) from the new growth. I know some cacti do this, so is it normal here? Is it asking for or needing something? Any tips?

As always, I have no idea how to grow cacti πŸŒ΅πŸ™ƒ

When my rat tail cactus started doing this, I looked it up and it’s a sign it is thirsty that trying to get water in our nonnative habitats. But the main reason they have them is they are epiphytes and want to climb/latch/etc as part of their growing.
For dragon fruit cacti is it normal to grow arial roots :) it is because they love to climb!

So don't worry, it isn't a bad sign.

If you like you can give it something to climb on and watch it go.
Those roots growing from the new growth are quite normal, and they usually indicate that the plant is establishing itself and looking for more nutrients and some support. I had a similar experience with my cactus once. To ensure it continues to thrive, make sure it's getting enough sunlight and water. @Alinaa has already mentioned those stuff. Here's a question for you: Have you noticed any changes in the environment or care routine that might have contributed to your dragonfruit root development?
Thank you, @Alinaa @Nathaliezyx4 and @JungleDreamer !

You confirmed everything I guessed, which makes me feel much better. I'll increase watering a little (I'm notorious for under-watering cacti) and maybe add support. Though, I did look up dragon fruit trellis and πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄πŸ₯΄
Epiphyte cacti don’t want to dry out all the way like normal cacti. Treat it like a Christmas cactus or similar if you have those and got the schedule down. πŸ™‚
@Alinaa I have false Christmas and Dutchman's Pipe, which is what tipped me off that it may want to climb. I'll treat it the same!
