Can this baby be saved

#Coleus
Hi stop puttingοΏΌ οΏΌwater
So let it completely dry out should I keep it in window or on a table under a grow light
My coleus has undergone the same fate. Mine is an annual but it's supposedly perennial if indoors. It produced stalks of pretty blue flowers and then died shortly after. Would be neat if you can resurrect it

Nooo, don't let her completely dry out coleus can be a bit tricky.

They don't ever like to dry out completely but they can mostly dry out. They will brown and shrivel really fast if they go totally dry. Yours will not come back but I will give everyone some tips to keep them going forever in your home.

1. Keep the soil moist never wet. I allow them be be halfway dry. So when I stick my finger in the soil it is barely cool and moist. I check them everyday.

2. They are annuals but you can effectively keep them going. Photo 1 is around 1 year old. It's starting to look sparse. When this starts to happen it's getting close to the time it needs to be cut back and propagated. It will keep growing but I know she won't look a pretty as a fresh new propagation! She's definitely coming to the end of her lifetime.

3. DON'T let them bloom. I know their flowers are beautiful. But once they bloom they die. It's done its life process, it's lived and created seeds and kept the species going. It knows it's served its purpose and will die shortly after. So, I pinch off the flowers and never let them go into full bloom. If you want to enjoy the flowers than do extra coleus props so you can enjoy them but also keep some with the flowers pinched off so you have one to prop from.

3. Propagations- this is a must to keep the plant going and looking its best. Every year and through the year I do props. They root really fast and grow rapidly so you can always have new fresh coleus around.

4. I do keep mine under grow lights. They can handle sun. But I found they just look better under grow light and the leaves don't dry out as easily.

5. Fertilize often they need the nutrients to stay healthy because they grow sooo fast.

6. Dont be afraid of pruning! They love being pruned and will fill back in each stem cut will create 3 new stems. For a full coleus you need to prune!

I do think yours is gone though there is no green left in its stem. I would encourage you to try again though!
