Mold in soil
I've been re-organized my potting area and had my soil mix in tubs so the the soil mixture would be ready for use.
However I noticed my container of Hoya soil mix has mold. I know it can't be used now. This is something I've not experienced.
My question is, has anyone experienced this with soil mixture molding? And, should I put a few holes in the tub lid so this doesn't create most soil and mold? I had this happen years ago when I was stationed in New Orleans... a SoilSista instructed Me to buy a large bag of Baking Soda and mix it in thoroughly. I did and the mold was remedied.
Give it a try before tossing out your money and time 🤷🏽♀️

@Sassylimey I noticed condensation buildup in my soil containers even when I thought it was totally dry. I've started leaving the top a little off for air movement but I hate it because I just KNOW fungus gnats are congregating.

Oh nooo @JustPlainDee I did throw the soil away, I'm highly allergic to mold. It hurt too, that was a lot of soil 😭
But I'll remember your baking soda advice. In the meantime I'm airing out my soil mixes, don't want any more mold ugh 😩 then I'm going to drill holes in the lids 😉

oooooh, I know that it hurt, @Sassylimey ... thanks to 🌀Idalia🌀 blowing my supplies all over the patio and yard (then filling my soil tote with water), I had to toss away 18 gallons of my Potting Soil, Succulent Soil, Peat Moss, Black Cow Manure, Orchid Bark, Charcoal, Pumice, Perlite, Sulfur, Iron, Blood Meal, Bone Meal, Ground Eggshells, Ground Banana Peels, and Epsom Salt MIX. 🥺😢🥺

Yeeeaaah... I guess my face reflected my hurt, @Sassylimey because Honey was just standing there when I stood up... he said "I know, all your mixing time and all that money." then he hugged Me and said "I'll help You redo it." which is a clear-cut indication that I had to have looked heartbroken because he never VOLUNTEERS to help Me. 😂🤣😂
