My plant all of a sudden is leaning sideways…. So I repot...

#Aglaonema
2ft to light, indirect
4” pot with drainage
Last watered 5 days ago
Is it leaning towards the sunlight? If so, try rotating
your plant every so often until it is upright.
I wish it was just that, but it was actually leaning away… And now it just wants to flop. I’m wondering if it needed maybe some fresh soil and a bigger pot which is what I’m going to try to do the root ball seems very shallow and small, which maybe it’s normal for that plant but it seems strange to me.
More than just a lean
@Canadianintexas Mentioning just in case: When sizing up in pots, a good rule of thumb is to go no more than 1 inch wider than the root ball because the plant will focus its energy into root growth until it feels snug again. In general, if you want deeper roots, using a pot around the same width as the root ball but with some depth will help direct its root growth downward.

As for the lean, a support stick may be a good idea while you work on identifying the underlying issue, so low light exposure doesn’t become a secondary issue.
Thank you!!! Yep I propped it up for now with some bamboo skewers and will hope for the best 🀞
For that size, those roots are awfully small. Maybe it's top heavy
Mine did the same thing I repotted it with different soil. I made my own with organic coco coir, organic worm cast & organic perlite and just put more soil in to where it was flopping over and it worked its not not flopping anymore. You can also putva stick in and tie it loosely to the stick for a few weeks til it gets stronger
So strange… Yes, I think I will get it some new soil today. I have been recycling soil and that’s probably a terrible idea. 🫣 I’m baffled because it looks healthy but is not strong so something is obviously missing
@Canadianintexas Mines a leaner too. I had put a popsicles split on till the base got bigger but it still leans . A good mix is Peat , coco chips and charcoal those roots get huge . I was so mad at mine but look what is emerging now
Oh cool!!! Yes I bought a mix for tropical plants and it has all of those good things you listed in it… It looks like it’s doing fine as of now. I will keep its support sticks in until it gets stronger and then hopefully I will get some new shoots too!
@Canadianintexas I just noticed mines going to flower again. Thought you may want to see before I cut it out . A good sign they’re happy though .
Oh nice! I have never seen mine flower but it steadily makes new leaves. Why are you cutting it out?
