I usually wait a couple of days after watering before I started the repot. Select a new pot size that is 1-2 inches bigger than it’s current pot. Remove the plant from the pot, and try and remove as much of the old soil. Then repot it in the new pot

I would untangle the roots VERY carefully before placing it in the new pot. Before you put it in the new pot, place dirt along the bottom of the new pot and then place the plant in. @melly is right about waiting for the water to drain a bit and the size of the new pot.
