When do I water? πŸ’§

Good morning! How frequently should I #water my new string of pearls? The soil feels dry but I don’t want to overwater from the beginning! Please me know what your experience has been with this plant 🀭 #StringOfPearls #wateringtips #needadvice

@hannahsophiya maybe @HoyaAddict may know. I know @RJG has a gorgeous set of SOPs

String of Pearls are very sensitive to overwatering, so make sure that you give them just enough water. Recommended amount is once every two weeks. One tip to make sure you don't overwater your plant is to check if the soil is half an inch (1.2cm) dry before the next water.

How do I know when to water my String of Pearls? The simplest way to tell if your plant needs water is by the way the beads look. When in need of water, the beads start to shrivel and wrinkle, kind of like raisins. This tells you that the plant is very dry and it needs to be watered right away.
@KikiGoldblatt When my soil is dry, I like to give them a little squeeze 😏they will start to lose firmness when thirsty. You can also look to see if their windows (tiny slits that let light in, look for a seam along the pearl) close up or if any start to wrinkle.
You can start watering once every 12 days and then watch the leaves. If they look wrinkled then you have to water the plant more often. Did you add this plant to Greg? Does it show you any recommendations?
I am definitely not an expert like @KikiGoldblatt @HoyaAddict and @vvvelo but as someone who has killed more succulents than I have kept alive over the years, the best bet is definitely to under water. That said, my SOP is SO happy with Greg's watering schedule so you're already off to a great start!
Definitely do your research. I went with Greg’s recommendation of watering mine every 5 days. I found out it should be every 2 weeks only when it’s dying. πŸ₯΄ Currently trying to propagate my pearls right now, lol.
Personally, get a feel for the pearls themselves (not new growth) when they’re rock hard wait a few days. When they start to squish she’s thirsty. This works with many succulent and Hoyas as they do not store water in roots or stem, they store water in the leaves! Good luck
I also like to mist mine too, I find it doesn’t hurt!
When your pearls look deflated is usually the best time to water, I also like misting them but can’t be 100% sure that actually helps
Everyone gave great answers, I want to add that my pearls greatly prefer bottom-watering so that the pearls stay dry.

In my experience it is best to mist SOPs every ten to twelve days. It is also good to watch the leaves though and make sure that they don’t get super dry. When they get raisin like they definitely need to be watered. I have been misting mine every ten days for about a year and she is doing goid
