Letโ€™s talk Aloe.

I live in Arizona and somehow still manage to kill ALL the succulents and cacti Iโ€™ve ever had. - usually by underwatering. Iโ€™ve had this dear Aloe for about a yearโ€ฆit keeps growing and having pups, but the leaves at the bottom curl in, turn hollow and die off, which Iโ€™m assuming is due to underwatering(?) Itโ€™s in terracotta (probably should be in a 4โ€ not 6โ€) succulent/cacti soil, I water about every 2 weeks and itโ€™s under a grow light. Last time I repotted, it didnโ€™t have very many roots, but what it did have were healthy. What can I do to help this lady thrive instead of merely survive? #AloeVera #Aloe #HappyPlants #SucculentSquad #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #arizonagreggang #DesertDweller #azgreggang

Hi @stryker49 Anya, you donโ€™t have an aloe Vera. Thatโ€™s a climbing aloe which is a bit different. When climbing alie doesnโ€™t get the right amount of light, it will lose its lower leaves as it grows. Overwatering this plant is easy as well. Looking at your snapshot, I would suggest adding a little pumice to the soil and sizing down on the pot. Adding an alternate light source that you can turn on and off helps. Your plant card says itโ€™s close to the humidifier, the heater and the HVAC vents (?). If so, I recommend moving them away from all to avoid overwatering via the humidifier and sending it through multiple seasonal stressors through the day if the heater and hvac are on. They do well in stable temperatures and environments. I would start there and see how it does. Best of luck and Happy Growing! ๐ŸŒฟ
I would set your aloe plant in a more humid area๏ฟผ for now and see if that helps it. Check for root damage as well , water slowly so you can avoid shock
@stryker49 Hereโ€™s a website that might help you with your Aloe Vera plant : https://www.thegardenhelper.com/discussions/4072-aloe-vera-help-please.html#:~:text=P.S.%20The%20flat%2C%20hollow%20leaves,water%20up%20to%20the%20leaves. Happy Growing
