@FreeGreenlaver No, the only problem is that it has no drainage holes, which causes water build-up. You can easily buy a similar plant pot with drainage holes from your local grocery store or make one. Anything can be a pot if youβre resourceful enough. You can make a pot if you have an appropriate size clean container or bottle you aren't using, and tools such as a drill, blade, or knife. I made these pots in the picture below by cutting a soda bottle in half and turning the top portion upside down
@Seedstarter correct
@FreeGreenlaver Well, that's a problem. That and the fact that you are following the watering schedule to a tee make me think your plant is on the cusp of root rot. All potted plants need drainage (holes at the bottom of pots) to remove excess water. If not, water builds up in the pot and starts drowning the roots, suffocating the plant.
@Seedstarter what do I do? I just remembered that when I repotted I placed a small little plastic disk into the pot above some fertilizer and under more fertilizer before placing the plant back in. Iβm VERY new to plants and have no idea what to do. Youβre very appreciated for your help
@FreeGreenlaver, do you have any pots of the appropriate size with holes at the bottom? If not, your best choice for now would be to remove the plant from the pot and leave it out until you can get or make one. You have to get those roots air.
@Seedstarter this is the only pot that I have. Is it too small? I can get whatever I need to save this one
@FreeGreenlaver you need a pot with a hole at the bottom. As for the size, the pot with the hole should be approximately the same size as the current pot the plant is in.
@OrangeGrass thank you! Ordering one now, do you suggest a certain type of drainage plate or would something like this be ok?
@Seedstarter whoa this is so cool. Thank you so much looking for a new one now
@FreeGreenlaver I was referring to terracotta or unglazed clay planters with holes at the bottom, but any kind of pot will work as long as the pot itself has a hole to allow water to flow out of it. This is the kind of planter I was referring to because unglazed clay is porous which allows air to pass through it and it also absorbs moisture leading to less water retention which will prevent overwatering.
@OrangeGrass oh that is very interesting I did not know this. Thank you so much!
@FreeGreenlaver Also, you can buy a plastic pot with drainage holes at the bottom of it, and put in inside your decorative pot.
When you water, try to make it a habit to check the soil moisture. You can do this by sticking your finger or a skewer in the soil to 2 inches. If either you finger or skewer comes out moist with lots of soil sticking to it, the plant should not be watered. But if there is barely any soil sticking, you should water your plant. Pink Syngonium is a tropical plant, so it likes moist soil meaning the soil surrounding the roots should not be dry which is why itβs important to water when the top 2 inches of the soil is dry. I hope this helps!
