What’s this!?
I just noticed a tiny, almost hair like growth coming out of one nodes on my #PhilodendronBrasil. It’s not an aerial root, as you can see those on the other side of the stem. It seems too skinny to be a new stem coming off the node, but 🤷‍♀️ Just curious if anyone has seen this before.
Sorry the photos aren’t great, it was had to get that little thing in focus! #AskGreg #GregGang

New leaves come out red/pink. This hairlike guy could be a feeler looking for something to attach to. Your plant looks healthy It’s normal— I read it’s protective because most tasty tender green new growth attracts predators whereas a reddish color indicates poison. #PhilodendronBrasil #ScienceWithGreg
Has it been continuing to grow? It looks like it could have been the beginnings of a new leaf that just never developed
@Wdward22 I just noticed it today, so I’m not sure 🤷‍♀️ I’m gonna keep an eye on it & see what it does 👀
I’ve seen this on my Brazil too- I assumed it was a weird arial root but I’m honestly not sure 🤷🏼‍♀️
@PlantLoverLily Glad I’m not the only one! It’s the first time I’d seen it, so I was curious
