Absolutely that is the best way! The fresher they are the quicker they germinate. If you plant them right from the fruit you have germination in 2 weeks.
Just be sure to clean them well you don't want any pulp on them.
Then take some sandpaper and scuff them up, it helps them germinate. They have a thick shell.
The other option if you can't scuff them up. Is to soak them for 12 hours or so before planting. It can be helpful to soften the shell.
