How do I proceed?

Hey #lithopsarmy I need your help. I bought this little guy in May and he was splitting. This summer he seems to have stalled.

I added the tiniest bit of water on two separate occasions as I saw that can be a factor. The soil is dry enough it pulls away from the pot so I figured it was safe. Each time the parent #lithops lost it's wrinkles and then became wrinkly again so I assumed it went to the babies, but no progress.

Most recently (maybe a month ago) I cut the sides just a touch. You can see where, but again, no change.

It's in terracotta and sits on a windowsill that's west-facing. It's the brightest spot in the house.

Now that we are entering fall/winter I know I need to think about watering regularly, but I know I shouldn't if it's splitting. What would you all recommend?

PS
My plant card photo is from the first month or so I had it.

@Jana85 @Lithopslover I know you both have had lithops advice before... I can't remember who else πŸ€”
It almost looks dehydrated and maybe it was before it started it pushing the baby out ? So maybe it does need some water but I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to lithops. I just got one myself and had to water after thinking it would be fine for months like my split rock .. AH NO. She was wrinkly and mad πŸ˜‚
@TidyTigerpear I know the parent is supposed to wrinkle as the baby absorbs the water and breaks through, but it wrinkles and never shrivels up πŸ€¦πŸ½πŸ˜‚
@PlantMompy it can take several months to completely shrivel away, as long as the babies aren’t wrinkled you should be good, also if it’s humid where you are the outer leaves may take longer to fully shrivel away
@VipSeraphina the babies seem fine, just stuck πŸ₯΄ it's not really humid here, but humid enough all summer. It also sits on the windowsill over the sink so maybe I should move it to somewhere with less moisture.
It could be, I’ve read that keeping humidity loving plants in rooms where there is water such as kitchen or bathroom is a good for them. Idk if it’s true but maybe it’s more humid than the living room πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ. Either way, as long as the babies are fine I would wait to water.
I have 2 in one pot. One has shed its leaves, and the other looks just like yours. They say don’t water bc it’s getting water from the parent leaves. But in my case, I have to for the other. Hasn’t hurt any. I’ve seen people pull the leaves apart to help it along. I did a little at first, but I think I’m going to just keep watering once a month and see what nature has in store.
It’s ok to water lithops when the soil is completely or nearly dry as long as the soil is well-draining and the pot has a drainage hole. I’d be inclined to give this little one a decent watering and let Greg tell you how frequently to water from then on. It’s working well for my lithops.
