Hey Wyatt! Can you tell us a little more about the growing conditions? Is it outside or in? How much sunlight is it getting? How wet or dry is the soil when you water? Based on the dryness I would guess the issue is underwatering, too much sun, or both. I’ve attached a Greg guide for this Cypress that may be helpful. In my experience, they sunburn easily. When that happened to mine, I trimmed off the dry parts, adjusted sun exposure & watering, and everything worked out. Hoping the same for you! https://greg.app/lawson-cypress-problems/
I have a feeling your buddy is really, really thirsty. It needs a good soaking. I have a suspicion that it either is, or is close to being root bound. Which is okay, as long as you compensate with more frequent watering. At this point, the soil may have become dehydrated and top watering isn’t enough. You may need to let it sit in some water and slowly rehydrate for an hour or two.
I agree. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I’d adjust the watering and use your instincts and observations, not go by Greg. I also ignore the quantity of water and water until the soil is saturated instead.
Mine is doing the same thing, you touch it branches fall off. The soil is very wet. I put mine next to a window and it started to spread out, but then the needles and what not fell off. Mine also is very hard and yet my co worker has the same plant and we water ours at the exact time and her needles are very green and soft. Branches are flimsy and yet mine is rough and hard.
