New Plant πŸͺ΄ & New Pests πŸ˜–

So just watered my new pearls and jade pothos in my quarantine bathroom, and found like centipede πŸ› type creepy crawlers floating in the water, multiple, big and small. I don’t want them…. Are they bad? And how should I get rid of them?? #NewPlantMom #PestControl bugs">#bugs #bugbattles #buggingout #InfestationPrevention #GregGang #PlantCorner #HangingPlants bugs">#bugs #HappyPlants

Hmm... I'm by no means an expert so hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong! But that looks like a couple of wee centipedes, a spider and another wee beetle looking thing, and I'd say that just means she's in REALLY healthy soil!! πŸ₯° I spotted a couple of wee beasties in my Calamondin but nothing I wouldn't expect to see in my garden so I think your totally fine honey! If you really don't want them, take to he draining dish outside and gently tip them into the grass! πŸ₯° They'll make their own way from there... I'd be surprised if you had many more! Xx
i don’t think that’s a centipede, maybe a millipede? second pic is just a spider! idk about the millipede but spiders will eat pests for you so i like to keep them around when i find them.
i would repot/change the soil, the millipedes live in there. i think the spider was just there by chance.
@JenniB81 @strawberrymoon yes, you are both correct, there are a couple centi or milli - pedes and a small spider. I was just surprised to see so much wildlife in one pot. I dont like spiders but that little one looked harmless. But the millipedes seemed odd for a plant from a store. As long as they are not harmful to the plant or β€œcontagious”, I will settle down a notch! 🀣πŸ€ͺ
i think you’re good! the millipedes are harmless but they multiply quickly, so probably not a good idea for an indoor plant to have them around… maybe you can put them outside like jenni says :)
@nellz4estfairyz looks like you need a carnivorous plant given such creatures, Nellz πŸ˜† 🀣 πŸ˜‚
@strawberrymoon yes, I’m getting the feeling that they multiply quickly because i looked into the top of the pt and I can see a couple there too!
@Seymour do you think that will help??? πŸ€£πŸ˜… there are a lot of those little buggers in that pot! Speaking of carnivorous plants, I have only had two Venus flytraps in my life and couldn’t keep either one alive! So now I’m scared off. I do love the pitcher plant.
