Repoting them straight away shouldnβt be a problem at all and like @Elk said itβs a good opportunity to check the plant and make sure that itβs not root bound and theres no heavy soil stuck in between the roots that might be able to store too much water and contribute to root rot later on.
They'll be alright in plastic. These guys actually like water a little bit more than a desert cactus, and I've found they do well with a nonporous pot. Just make sure the soil drains quickly enough, and it'll be good to go.
