Looks a lot like a fungal issue i had with one of my plants. What i did was prune the leaves that were afflicted, and treat the others with a neem oil solution. You may want to be careful with that though, because for my plants it caused a bit of yellowing & thin leaves, so I ended up wiping off the excess a week or so later and my plants is doing great now.
As for vertical growth, if possible you could try placing it next to a higher window so that it is getting more light from above rather than on the sides. Otherwise you can just rotate it occasionally and it should start growing upwards, or evenly at the very least.
Hope this helps :) Feel free to ask any questions

@cereal thank you Lyn! This is all very helpful info. I will definitely give Neem oil a try while being extra cautious. Thanks again for taking the time out to help me!
@FreeMockorange No problem! I hope all goes well π
@JenNC thank you Jen! Will do!
@FreeMockorange Welcome to the Greg community! These βtearsβ on the leaves are they sticky and white ? And are the brown spots crispy and dry? Light brown spots, especially around the edges of leaves, can indicate the plant is not getting enough water or is exposed to too much direct light.
Solution: Ensure the plant is watered regularly and that it's not exposed to harsh, direct sunlight.

Pics r hard to see tears but do u mean like small scratches? And how small r the brown spots? Turn leaf over and see if u find any small white marks.irrespective of any of this, remove plant from others and quarantine until u have determined whats going on. If what i proposed, pinhole brown spots on top, white ones on underneath of leaf & scratches rather than tears or perhaps scratches that turned into tears, it sounds like thrips to me. Please check these markings and if im correct, u r in a world of hurt! Not really hurt just work! Iβve been thru it w 3 plants at the same time so i know of what I speak but hey, I got thru it and all plants r healthy and thriving now btw, one of my injured plants was fiddle leaf fig . I donβt wanna get into all the treatment if Iβm wrong so please check what I asked and let me know if they r as I described or (hopefully) something else. Like ur cat scratches it lol. Regardless Asif itβll be ok. I promise. Let me know asap or even better yet @Superbraspfern as he is the King of all plant health, treatment and knowledge. Irrespective which way this goes will u please let me know as I am truly interested in u and ur plants well-being and no matter whatβs up. Maybe we can fix it together π«ΆπΌπͺ΄
You don't need to treat your plant it is going to be fine.
Your plant just has edema from too much water. You can stop it from happening by watering much less. Only water when nearly dry.
Fiddle leaf figs are really susceptible to edema. When looking at your tree all of it is near the top of your tree and newer leaves.
Usually when just slightly watered they will get those red spots on the new leaf growth. It will grow out fairly quickly. But, when it gets way too much those small spots can morph into bigger spots as the leaves age.
That's what is happening to yours.
I'll explain.
Edema causes the leaf cells to fill with water like a water balloon. Causing the reddish color in new leaves.
When the get too full they will burst causing cell damage within then leaf. Causing the bigger brown spots.
So, to sum it up less water will solve all of your problems.
I had one leaf that did it on mine. But knowing what it was I could stop the issue right away. Less water won't fix the damage but it will stop it from happening to more β€οΈ
I forgot one thing, the holes are also from the edema, it can cause a leaf necrosis (death of tissue) in that part of the leaf forming a hole from the damaged tissue and cells. So that is also just part of the overwatering damages
@BuffCaperspurge Thank you for the tag Tacy, hope you're having a good day! πΏ

@SuperbRaspfern I am and u as well. Iβm waiting on my 4-pk of pathos due Monday, a Birkin, Hoya hearts, Chinese money tree and a few others. Now I have to get another plant stand!! lol. I have some fenestrations on Coco and 3 new leaves!! Oh also waiting for my Thai & windmill palm as well as another plan (my mind just went blank) everyone is outside today 76 degrees and yesterday as well! Iβll send some pics once the grinch goes wherever it is he goes lol! Iβve ordered washtub planters for outside so I can plant my sunflowers, callas, lavender
Nice! It helps so much to have an organized space to work, the washtub will be fantastic!
So excited about Coco she seems incredibly happy there. I'm glad she's settled in so well. And that sound like a fun assortment at least the weather warmed up for now so you shouldn't have to worry about cold damage.
Nice weather WOW! We've got rain again and 50 degrees out. It's nicer there than here!

I have fenestrations and 3 new leaves on Coxo! Iβll send some pics whenever the grinch goes wherever it is he goes lol. Still waiting for my Birkin, windmill palm, another but sr moment (Iβll get it), Chinese money tree, heart Hoyas, and a few others. Now I need another plant stand!! I have a Thai coming and finally found a Raven ZZ! I got a washtub bed for yard for my red, purple & yellow sunflowers, lavender and callas. Gotta keep the bunnies away this year since we now live basically in the woods). My list just keeps growing and growing!! Gives me peace so thereβs that! Question for u. Y does it seem like everyone asks the same question βcan u help me identify this plant?β They DO realize what Gregβs all about right? I also gave names of 2 other apps just in case lol. Btw, I got 3 best answers today! Also propagated 2 leaves from Coxo which I dipped in root hormone then into 2β nursery cup so maybe Iβll just start my own greenhouse!!! lol. Just keep Frosty out!!!! Enjoy ur weekend my friend and pics coming and maybe even a video since Greg promised me $5/ea. Iβll do anything for a buck! I was emailed a note from Costa too. They read and featured my reviews from Amazon and put me in their βfrequent buyers benefit clubβ just rolling in the dough here hahaha and just think itβs all because of u and thrips. Man, 2 words I never thought belonged together hehe . Oh hope this tickles u. Someone asked what a good fertilizer was for their ZZPlant so as always I gave my SuperThrive dirty and pic etc and then I told whomever just when they pass it, stick out their tongue and the ZZ will probably live another 4,000 yrs!!! Howβd u like that one??!!! Anyway more later when I remember what I was gonna say and pics of ur Coco to come later this evening. U have a great weekend!!!π«ΆπΌπͺ΄
@SuperbRaspfern sorry didnβt mean to send my bone chillinβ weather out ur way!! Kentia palm? Damn I thought I had it memorized haha. Iβm waiting for bamboo palm which is most expensive and what r ur thoughts about old man palm? One day Garys coming home to Simbo right in the corner. No worries. Sebastian and I had long talk about plants food abd bad. I bought him some artificial succulents and plastic plants so he can play with and he knows not to touch or get near to Nanas! What a kid!!! I knew he had some of my DNA!! lol
@BuffCaperspurge Now that is adorable! What a good boy not touching yours. You should buy him some cheap seeds to plant.
Plantflix
has good houseplant seeds that sprout well.
Coleus
Monstera Deliciosa
Philip Hope
Those all sprout and grow really fast. Then he can watch one grow that he planted. The only bad thing is just about all of them sprout so you'll have a dozen more plants. I usually grow them and share a bunch with family. Then you will create a little Plant Lover.
Basil sprouts fast too and he can eat it. Don't buy veggie seeds from them though there's are not the best for veggies:
