If it's squishy brown then it's too much water, if it's crispy brown it's not enough water, if brown is mostly on top then it's sun burn.

It's not easy to take care of this plant. When to water is a crucial issue. Basically, you have to check the soil with your finger (2" deep must be dry before watering). SOT likes plenty of strong indirect light.

Yellow leaves may recover, but once they turn brown they won't recover.
