Chamaecyparis ellwoodii

Hello! I just recently got this beautiful cypress but I am a little confused with the light requirements. I've read that likes full bright direct sunlight but I also read that likes bright indirect sunlight. Which one is it? Please help #chamaecyparis #ellwoodii #chamaecyparisellwoodii #cypress #light #lightrequirements #help
1ft to light, direct
3โ€ pot with drainage
Last watered 1 month ago
I think Chamaecyparis ellwoodii is the wrong name for it, I'm pretty sure it is actually Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'ellwoodii' from a Google search. Since these are trees, they are big and cover other plants, so I believe it'll roll with whatever light you've got. I think a southeast window will do well.
Lol that's the same name you just added one more word to it, but thanks for your help
@sproutherbology It's Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'ellwoodii' because the quotes specify that is a variety of a certain species. Saying that you have a Chamaecyparis ellwoodii is different from saying you have a Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'ellwoodii' because the Chamaecyparis ellwoodii is one species and Chamaecyparis lawsoniana is another. Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'ellwoodii' is a variety of the Chamaecyparis lawsoniana species.
I'm just going with the name that was on the tag when I first got it, and that how Greg recognizes it too. Thanks for the fact, I know something new now ๐Ÿ˜Š
