That's a bit big a pot for a starter. You may want to get something smaller or you'll overwater it! @HoyaAddict

@LittleSongbird thanks for the tag! Yes I’d use a much smaller pot, and if you have terracotta even better. Being an epiphyte (plant that lives on other plants) Hoya usually have good airflow to the roots and like to dry out before rewatering. (There are a few terrestrial(live in soil) Hoya but this isn’t one) Lots of perlite or some bark will keep the soil from being too dense. This is a pot size recommendation (added a few pics of my small Hoya) Hope it helps!
