Water

What is your opinion on watering with tap water vs. filtered? I’m going through my refrigerator filters a lot quicker and they’re expensive! I do have big pitchers that I fill with tap and sit overnight but at 80-something plants that’s not enough. Any tips/tricks or thoughts #Greggers #GregGang #Watering #HappyPlants #MyPlantsLivingTheirBestLife #gardenofaden
@jcPlantProper thank you! I’m deathly scared of Calatheas so that won’t be a problem. Haha! I do know that my Bromeliad should get filtered or distilled. But for all those others I would love to be able to do tap. Philos, pothos, Aglaonemas, Peperomia, and Hoyas. Oh and Ficus and Snakes, and Schefflera. It goes on and on and on. 😂 oops forgot Alocasias and Syngoniums.
@jcPlantProper that’s exactly what I thought too. Although I know rain water is the best! But none of that in Texas right now. 💦😥
@TJphilobsessed I use tap water on all my plant even my rattlesnake plants.
All of my plants get tap water and it doesn't always have time to sit overnights as I have too many plants for that to be practical.

I've started using distilled water for my props at least to give them a cleaner head start in life, but if it has roots it gets water from my sink and they all seem to be okay with it.
I use water from my brita pitcher. I have about 12 1gallon empty jugs that I keep refilling. I still let the filtered water sit overnight just in case.
I use my fish tank water. I also have a super expensive water filtration and softener system because we are on well water and it’s full or fart smelling iron. We also have a reverse osmosis set up at the sink. My plants are spoiled. Do you have a way to collect some rainwater maybe??
Tap should be fine though, just flush it with the filtered once every few months to remove the mineral build up.
The only plant I water with filtered water is my calathea the rest are tap 🤷🏻‍♀️
I water all plants with distilled but if I run out, I’ll fill those gallon bottles with tap and let sit 2-3 days and my plants don’t even notice a difference 💀
@TJphilobsessed I use tap water for NY rubber trees, my pothos and philodendroms without issue. I also use tap for propagation. I just fill the vessels the day before clipping.
I collect rain water 💦 have about 30 gallons stored plus a rain barrel...I literally set out any container I can when it rains, my porch is lined with empty creamer, coffee containers and old pans 🤣
I literally cannot use the water from my sink where I live, it is full of chlorine.
@TJphilobsessed I use tap water that sits uncapped for atleast 24 hours. 6 milk jugs to be exact and I just keep filling when empty. I was going thru my Zero water filters extremely fast as well. That's why I started the jugs
I water and refill my jugs every Sunday have for years
