Root rot?

Question

Hi, I beheaded my echeveria but I realised the root seems to be slightly black, is this a sign of root rot?

@plant10 not necessarily. They could be black from the soil. If they're mushy when you squeeze them, that's the for sure way of knowing if they're rotten

hi Cayla, the black could be a sign of root rot but the only real way to tell is to take this out of its pot and to have a good look at the roots. If the roots are rotted, cut off the rotted black she roots and give this a good wash. I would recommend reposting this into a chunky mix, maybe using orchid bark or adding per light. This plant loves to be aired as well so I would recommend just dipping a skewer into the soil just to let this air out so it can breathe. Hope that helps :-) ￼

@plant10 oh you meant the stem. Either way, stem or roots, the same rule applies lol
