๐Ÿ“Š Taking a poll! Should I repot or behead Plato - my #Sedum Clavatum?
Plato started poppin' off a BUNCH of babies! ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™...

There's even more now, probably 10 new florets coming in (woah!) ๐Ÿคฏ These pic were taken a couple weeks ago.

Obviously the main issue is the BIG roset that is falling outside the pot. The weight could eventually make the stem break or the pot topple when the soil is dry - it's only a 3 inch pot.

He's due for a repot as he's been in his pot since March 2021 and he's doubled in size since then.

BUT... I was worried that the new bb's would get damaged during a repot...

So... โ“Do I give them ALL a new home or do I say, "Off with Your Head!" ๐Ÿ˜‚

โŽ Take your vote!

A) Repot the fam together

B) Off with his head!

OR... the substantially less interesting option:

C) Wait a month or so for the babies to grow up a bit and then repot. ๐Ÿ˜‘

B!! ๐Ÿ‘€โœ‚๏ธ๐ŸŒฑ
Off with his head!!
Also I wish mine looked that amazing!!
b, off with his head! iโ€™m a bit scared that heโ€™d get top heavy and break his own stem :( cute plant btw
@WickedValkyrie @strawberrymoon Thank you! I love his colors. I'm so excited he's thriving this year, especially with the heat wave right now.
@roxyvivien I honestly can't believe any of my outdoor plants are still alive at this point... This SoCal heat/sun is friggin INTENSE!! Probably even worse in LA with how densely populated y'all are...
@WickedValkyrie It's so crazy, right? ๐Ÿฅต

I walk outside om my open deck for 2 mins and I feel the sweat dripping! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'm very grateful that I work from home because I move my succulents around on the deck so they get a little bit of morning sun and then I shade them for the hot afternoon 12-4pm and then move them back out from. Under the awning to get some sunset light. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ˜“
... So much work! But worth it to keep them actively growing! ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿฅฐ
B!! Iโ€™m doing this too with my jelly bean plant
I just told mine, "I love you but you're gonna have to adapt or die!" Lmao ๐Ÿ˜‚
What a beauty ๐Ÿ˜ B!!
To the guillotine!
Definitely B๐Ÿ‘
@WickedValkyrie @roxyvivien ๐Ÿฅต is so bad in SD and because weโ€™re near the coast thereโ€™s no A/C at home or work ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿฅต. The plants are hanging in there so far. At least the humidity is high and not Santa Ana conditions! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคช๐Ÿ˜ฑ
@roxyvivien I agree with the rest of them, off with his head.
Yeppers chop and prop ๐Ÿ˜‰
Behead.....for sure!!! Always opt to make more plants....๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿฅฐ
B
Definitely B. When you do the surgery do you just cut the stem near the head, let it callus, and set it on some soil?
@fabina thanks for you vote! ๐Ÿ˜ I see your cute Jelly Bean and yes, I often behead when they have suffering from etiolation. It's an easy fix! I'm always surprised by how much sun my jelly bean plant needs to stay compact. Even as a very small cutting that was barely rooted mine would start leaning towards the sunlight when it was getting 3-4 hours of direct sun in 90ยฐ heat! Good luck with your beheading and rooting! ๐Ÿ˜Š ๐Ÿ’š
@MariansOasis I see you have a lot of green leafy plants (which I don't)... I can imagine with it being this hot upkeep of them will be challenging this summer! You must be taking excellent care of them! ๐Ÿ˜Š
Votes are in! "Off with his head!" ๐Ÿ˜‚ @plantesteem @strawberrymoon @jcPlantProper @Sassylimey @fabina @TruthfulApricot @ManyLime @KikiGoldblatt @MariansOasis @kscape @WickedValkyrie Thanks for votingโฃ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Plato is now behead and the cuts ends dusted in sulfur. I'll post an update & use the hashtag #stemcutting if you wanna follow Platos journey and some of my other stem cutting bb's.
@TruthfulApricot I'll create an additional post to tell you my go-to steps for rooting stem cuttings and I'll tag you! ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ
Yay! Glad we could help with your succ babies!!! Let us know how it goes when he gets his own home! Pls tag me ๐Ÿฅนโœ‚๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ @roxyvivien
Can't wait to see Plato grow big and strong... Again. Lmao ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค
@kscape @WickedValkyrie will Definitely post updates! I'll use the hashtag #stemcutting - I'd love to see your stem cutting success stories and tips in the hashtag group too! โ™ฅ
@kscape I just had to select your answer as "best" because everyone said "B" but you had the best emojis! ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

@roxyvivien ah youโ€™re so sweet. I try to be a good plant ๐Ÿชด mom. Iโ€™m lucky to have great weather down here for tropical plants. I love all your succulents!
@roxyvivien good luck with the new cuttings and bebes ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿชด. Look forward to pics!
@MariansOasis Thank you! Succulents are def my thing... I love your gorgeous tropicals tho! ๐Ÿ˜

Tropicals just don't like me ๐Ÿ˜†... I one, a Pilea money plant and I couldn't figure it out so I gave it to my friend who's good with Tropicals and it's thriving now. ๐Ÿ˜‚
@roxyvivien Thatโ€™s devotion for you!
