Brown Scale? On Parry Agave. Best treatment?

#Agave
I don’t think that’s scale. Scale insects are a lot more defined in their shape. It could be soft scale, which is caused by stress from inadequate water or poor growing conditions. Keep an eye on it. If it is scales, use a horticultural oil like neem oil or paraffin oil to suffocate them and then use your fingernails to lightly scratch them off. I know it’s yuck but fingernails are best because you know the amount of pressure you’re using to ensure you aren’t causing any more damage. πŸŒ±πŸ’š
Oh additionally, only treat with oil late afternoon when the sun isn’t as harsh. And make sure you wipe it down with a microfibre cloth afterwards to avoid any sun damage the next day.
@BabyBrownbirch props to you on the fingernail part. Yucky is quite the understatement. I could never lol.
Thanks! I will try. I recently did neem oil - but I did it I. the heat of the day.. maybe I burnt it? It’s also has some spider living in there- but as far as I can tell it’s not spider mites/ mealy bug.
