HELP ASAP! (DEAD PLANT)
What used to be a beautiful Monstera Plant, is now not worthy looking at. I have left it outside in cold and hot weather. I need an expert to tell me what I can do now to get it back on its feet, should I like cut the dead leaves? #help #helpneeded #monsteradeliciosa
@CalmingBoneset I would absolutely remove the spent leaves. I also do not see a moss pole. This will help to prevent the droop and give the plant the opportunity to grow upright. Are you able to place something under this container to bottom water? Itβs likely heavy so difficult to lift but would make a load of difference.
@CalmingBoneset this link explains the straw trick if youβre unfamiliar: https://www.housedigest.com/1497048/support-bent-broken-plant-stem-drinking-straw-hack/
Fortunately Monstera plants are very forgiving and can indeed lose all of their leaves and regrow new ones.
Steps to take:
1. Donβt panic π«¨, that just causes more damage to you and the plant! πͺ΄
2. Cut off all of the dead or severely damaged leaves. They cannot fix themselves, and the plant will waste energy trying to. But when you cut them off cut above a node. You want to leave the nodes because that is where new leaves will sprout from. The nodes will have a light brown or green appearance and look like a bump in the stem.
3. Put your plant somewhere where there is adequate light and a consistent stable temperature. That way it can adjust to its new spot.
4. Donβt move it after this allow it to rest and adjust to its new location.
5. Water a bit less, it wonβt drink as much without all those leaves and you donβt want to drown it or cause root rot.
6. Wait patientlyβ¦β¦
This part takes time it has been through trauma and will need to rest before it has the energy to grow more leaves. Thatβs okay it will grow new growth in time.
Iβm sorry about your plant π’
