Any Hope?!

When I first got this plant it wasn't doing the best, and it clearly got worse. Can I do anything with this entire leaf that fell off? Happy there's some new growth on the tallest one. Other than that, I have no idea why this whole stalk died. For now u just stuffed the whole leaf in the soil. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈAny advice and help is appreciated! They like well draining, loose, loamy soil that is moist but not too wet and not too dry. I love my moister meter so I can tell exactly what’s going on in the soil all the way down to the bottom of the pot. If you don’t already have one, they are useful little tools and inexpensive. They also like humidity between 40-50% so a pebble tray or humidifier nearby might be helpful. I have had good success with the weakly weekly fertilizer method. Giving a little dose of fertilizer with each watering adding worm castings to the soil as well. In your plant card it says it’s 14 ft away from light. They don’t like direct sunlight but maybe moving it to a location where it gets a more indirect sunlight would help. Hope he has a full recovery! Keep us updated.
Great advice from Ashley @Herbologybadger) πŸ’š

The only thing I can add is... YES! lol, you can totally propagate that leaf! πŸ₯° I rescued a Marginata from our local box store, which someone had (god knows how) snapped EVERY SINGLE ONE of the three crowns off the stems 😭 he's a sorry looking wee thing, so I asked the manager for a huge discount (since my boy was going to end up in the bin, no one else was going to buy him!) and brought him home.

Thankfully one of the staff had done as you mention and shoved the crowns in the soil to keep them all alive. I gifted one, one didn't make it, and the third is now starting to root! πŸ’š

It takes a good while, and you're best stripping the lower leaves as you would with any propagation really. If your going to try propagating in soil (or even moss) I'd stick a bit of rooting hormone on the base of the broken bit. If you're going to use water (which is always my default because I like to see the roots form πŸ˜‚) make it really shallow, so it doesn't touch and of the leaves you've left... That's how I lost my second crown πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈI went away for the weekend and when I came back it had rotted and it literally fell apart in my hands because I'd left the water level too high for it!

It's hard to know if the remaining trunk is knackered or not from a photo... If it's still alive in there it will start to sprout again at some point, but it does look very black (I suspect she's been overwatered at some point!).

You may want to take her out and check her roots, as there's a second trunk (root rot will take that one too if you don't catch it I'm afraid). Then repot her in fresh soil (a palm mix is good! Like coir, perlite, loam and sand, so it's fast draining but retains some moisture).

And, as Ashley said, please keep us posted! πŸ’š Keeping everything crossed for you xx
interesting, thanks for the information, I am learning from you
