Succulent pot

#Aloe I am new to succulents and my poor aloes were so leggy and I kept breaking their leaves so I repotted the main plants from two pots (wow aloe has shallow roots or I am doing it wrong?!) and a pup from a blizzard aloe and two random Home Depot dudes I liked## do you think this set up will work? I did cactus soil and perlite and topped with rocks and have under a light because it’s raining today…. I don’t know it’s my first try
Aloe and most succulents do typically have shallow roots! I’m no expert when it comes to Aloe but I’ve always kept mine in their own pots, just as not to compete for space and nutrients from others as they grow. They also do like bright, direct light, but I think this light might be a little too direct. If you have a window that gets good direct light that would be a perfect place to put it!
Thank you! I just wanted to make sure the soil got dried out a little faster because I did water them in, even though it said not to. And lots of perlite mixed into the cactus soil… I did read that they liked to be a little root bound with other plants but again- not sure. Figured if nothing else I can stick random vines from my string of pearls and rubies that I break too
