Is this normal?

I just potted this guy from a couple propagations, I’ve never had a plant mold though? Is that even mold?

@Newplantguy Well, it seems that this prop is having a hard time transitioning from water. The good news is that you could always put it pack into water and just let it grow there and change the water every week. I have 2 that I let grow in water and 2 that are in soil. The water ones will get long and then you could take cuttings again, prop in water and transfer to soil when the roots are a couple inches. οΏΌ(With my two that are in water, the roots also got really long for one reason or another, so I decided to just let them stay in water.) If you decide to put them back into water, just be sure to rinse all the soil from the roots before putting them back into water. This could also resolve the question of whatever the white stuff is on top of your soil - because it won’t matter anymore! πŸ˜‚
If you want to try keeping them in soil, maybe just try keeping them a bit moister like they mentioned in the other thread. You could also spray Neem oil or possibly another product to try to take care of the mold/fungus? that’s on top of the soil. Hopefully one of these suggestions will help. 😊
@Newplantguy It looks like mineral build up from tap water to me, but you said that you just potted this, so hmmmmβ€¦πŸ€” that seems odd. How long ago did you pot it? Do you water from the top? How many times since you watered it? Do you use tap water?
@SunnyPlants it’s been 2 weeks maybe, I’ve watered him 2 times and yes it was from the top and I water all my plants with tap water (I live in Oregon, we drink our tap water here) and none of my plants have ever had a problem? Once every couple months or so I water everything with water from my turtle’s aquarium and they seem to love that!
Thanks for the best answer. 😊 Let me know how your plant gets on. 😊
It should bean oganic matter you can scrape off. Your plant doesn't look like it is struggling
