Areca palm new growth is turning brown

My areca palm is showing a lot of new growth but the tips are turning brown. Should I increase the humidity?
@WinMira74 Welcome to the Greg community! Brown leaf tips on an Areca palm can be caused by several factors, including insufficient watering, low humidity, or mineral buildup in the water. It's important to ensure the soil is moist but not waterlogged and that the plant receives adequate humidity, especially during the winter months. Some of potential causes and solutions: Possible Causes:
Insufficient Watering:
Areca palms prefer moist soil, but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch or so of the soil feels dry.
Low Humidity:
Areca palms thrive in humid environments. Misting the leaves regularly or placing the plant near a humidifier can help.
Mineral Buildup in Water:
Minerals, like fluoride, can accumulate on leaf tips and cause browning. Use filtered or rainwater to water the plant. Over-Fertilization:
Too much fertilizer can also lead to brown tips. Reduce the amount of fertilizer or use a balanced fertilizer designed for palms.
Lighting Issues:
While Areca palms prefer bright, indirect light, they can also be stressed by too much direct sunlight. Solutions:
Adjust Watering:
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.
Increase Humidity:
Mist the leaves regularly, use a humidifier, or group the plant with other plants to increase humidity.
Use Filtered Water:
Water with filtered water or rainwater to avoid mineral buildup.
Reduce Fertilization:
If over-fertilizing is suspected, reduce the amount of fertilizer or use a balanced fertilizer. Adjust Lighting:
Move the plant to a location with bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight. Hope this helps, Happy Growing!!
