I bought this plant on a whim and it's not thriving

#Crassula This plant was quit full when I bought it now much of the original growth is brown and dead. There has been some new growth but Im not succeeding in maintaining that growth.
2” pot with drainage
Last watered 5 months ago
That soil looks super wet and consequently, may be suffering from root rot. I have a feeling the soil is not the right type. You want a fast draining soil with no peat in it. I suggest getting succulent soil and mixing in another medium to make it even chunkier. I’ve done orchid bark, perlite, or even pon to make sure that the soil doesn’t hold on to moisture. You may find dark and mushy roots and if you do, promptly cut. Strong roots are usually firm and white. Some variations are darker but still firm. If you do find mushy roots, spray with 3% hydrogen peroxide and then repot in a new soil/potting medium. Best of luck!
It’s Rattail crassula plant
Like bright indirect sunlight rearly wet soil but free draining
I just received this plant three weeks ago. Still in nursery pot. Just sitting on table out side northeastern sun. Thanks for sharing what soil to use. I do want to bring inside when weather changes. Please send anymore info I may need to know.
