Before
I'm thinking overwatering, not positive thoπŸ€”
Is there a node toward the bottom of the stems?
Can you share what you did? Did the stems have nodes?
Ok I definitely need more information. I know on your oasis this was marked as an arrowhead but the stems and before leaves have more of an Alocasia look. I just can’t tell.
@FitSedum
I did nothing but put them in a water vase last week..
My niece gave me the clippings
@GardenWitch
My niece said it was a Arrowhead
She gave me the clippings
I just don't know why it died like thatπŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
@WiseDidelta Could you take a closer picture of the stem? Especially the base of the stem.
@WiseDidelta I’m not an expert, but I think they didn’t make it because they were cut above the node. It looks like just stems and I don’t think they can be propagated without the node.
And..
The stems are still hard..not soft😩
@WiseDidelta Yeah there are no nodes on those stems. I’m still not 100% convinced they’re arrowhead because of the color of the stem but it doesn’t really matter. Neither arrowhead or Alocasia will grow from stem cuttings like this. For arrowhead they need nodes to grow roots. For Alocasia they grow from a corm the mother plant produces. Sometimes a single stem cutting can grow roots but it’ll never grow new leaves.
Ok..
Thank you guys
I will throw it out
@WiseDidelta What part of Philly are you in? I live in the outskirts.
@GardenWitch
I do have one
that's growing #syngonium
😍🌿🌱
@Kace
Northeast near Philadelphia Mills
@WiseDidelta without a node they will die unfortunately. I am so sorry for your loss.
I agree with everyone that mentioned the nodes. They need to have one. I’m sorry you went through the excitement only to go through this. πŸ˜”
@KikiGoldblatt
Do I tell my niece about how she cut the clippings of that plantπŸ€·πŸ½β€β™€οΈ
Thank u πŸ‘πŸ½πŸ˜Œ @FitSedum @Kace @GardenWitch
@WiseDidelta I would just so it doesn’t happen again. She shouldn’t feel bad. None of us started with the knowledge and she was trying to do something sweet for you.
TyπŸ’– @GardenWitch
I told and showed her 😌
Yea this looks like there’s no node. Therefore it’s just going to wither.
Yeah that’s what I thought when I first saw this. No nodes = no roots. 😒
