Is my Lithops blooming?
Look what I found the other day—something is emerging from the top of one of my lithops. Is it a bloom stalk? I have had the hardest time growing these, and many have died. Yet at least one is thriving, so maybe I’m getting better with succulents! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #SucculentLove #WhatTheSucc #LithopsArmy #Lithops #BloomingSuccs #LaSiguanaba #theamigos

@LaSiguanaba 🤣True that! Well, maybe the flower will get eaten and they will still leave the "stone" alone.↩️ REVERSE UNO CARD Thrown!! Hahaha
@LaSiguanaba yep thats a bloom ❤️ congrats. Looks like a yellow/orange flower too?
They do look quite happy. You're getting to be an expert now 😂.
Lithopses are rather fussy succulents too so good job.

@LaSiguanaba WOW, that’s fantastic, and I don’t think it happens very often. You’ve got the touch 👏👍👍
@Ninabeena get in line you’re not the only person that killed a succulent
@WarmStarsedge I am just happy that I have kept the other plants alive 😊
@LaSiguanaba I love learning about new plants!! I read that they avoid being eaten by blending in with the rocks around them. How do they know?!?!? 😮💚😍
@Ninabeena Thanks Nina! I am a notorious killer of succulents myself, but I’m determined to learn! 😁
@TheLonelyDaff Thanks so much! Your words mean a lot to me because I’ve really struggled with succulents in general, and lithops in particular. I can’t wait to see the bloom open!
@Ms.Persnickety Thanks! If i have the touch, it’s purely accidental. 😂
@WarmStarsedge Right? I’m right there with you John! 😁
@princesspitstop That’s a cool little factoid about lithops! I think the flower might be a give away tho! 😉
@Manuela Disculpe pero no sé si esta planta es una sandía. Espero que si lo es porque las sandias son muy sabrosas! 😁
@JauntyGrandfir I’ve seen pictures of them in bloom, but never thought I’d get one to flower!!! 🌸 I’ve had a hard time with lithops… I killed half the ones in this pot! 😂
@princesspitstop That’s hilarious! 😂 Hopefully my kids will resist the urge to chomp on a lithops bloom.
@LaSiguanaba I'll say a prayer 🙏 and if they do I hope they taste bad. 🤣
@princesspitstop It might require a rosary or even a novena!!!! 😉😂
@LaSiguanaba 🤣🤣🤣 That's awesome!! 👍
Somehow lithops have been one of the succulents I’ve been fine with because they visually show you what they need and there’s a few rules to follow. I’m probably going to get some more at some point 😁 I tend to struggle with succulents/cactus that don’t have super visual signs they need watering. I only water mine about twice a year, after flowering it will start to split (and they don’t have to flower to split I found out, only one of mine flowered this year and both started splitting). Don’t water whatsoever even if it looks awful because they cannabalise the outer leaves in order to make new ones and interrupting that with watering means they’ll hold onto the dying leaf and not follow their cycle properly which usually leads to them dying.
Here’s a pic of mine currently in the process of splitting!
Good luck with yours, they look lovely and they are very cool things to grow 🥰

@Peachyhoyas Hi Victoria. Thanks for all the great information on lithops! I am such a newbie at this—I’m just excited that I kept 1/2 of them alive, and accidentally got one to bloom!!! 😍
@LaSiguanaba welcome! There’s nothing wrong with being a newbie, I kept staring very confused at mine when they weren’t showing any signs of wanting water for months at a time 😂 I forgot to say as well that watering is fine when they’re not in the process of splitting but only water when they show wrinkles on the sides.
It’s exciting yes and well done! I love big bowls of them and would love to have a collection of them.
