Is my #CathedralWindows suffering from mildew ?

So Celeste also has small waxy like spots on her leaves , what is this and what can I do to help the issues. She is near a #MarbleQueenPothos who has similar symptoms but they are both indoor plants and I cannot find any pest. Both plants have been watered 1-2 days ago. #advice #NewPlants #RootRot #NewPlantDad

Are you referring to the spot I circled in the photo?

If so those are mineral deposits from tap water. Calathea are very sensitive to tap water and she will have problems from that. They leech the minerals out of their leaves leaving behind hard water spots.

If that's not what you mean let me know where to look โค๏ธ

Here are my Calathea care tips:

1. Plenty of indirect light. Direct sun will burn their leaves. Grow lights are great, I keep my collection under grow lights 12 hours a day.
2. Water when the soil is at least halfway dry. But never allow the soil to go completely dry.
3. Keep temperatures stable. They hate fluctuating temps. Interior walls are best the temps there are more stable.
4. They love humidity a humidifier is great. I increase humidity with pebble trays below the plant so as the water evaporates it increases humidity. I also cluster them together so they create humidity themselves.
5. Ceramic or porcelain pots are best. Terracotta and plastic are bad. Terracotta is terrible for these because it pulls moisture away from the roots. Plastic does not give the plant aeration so the roots will lack oxygen. Without oxygen the plant loses its ability to absorb water and nutrients.
6. Only us distilled or rain water. Player plants are very sensitive to the chemicals in tap water.

@SuperbRaspfern thank you so much ! This has really helped <3 the spot youโ€™re talking about is correct
Oh good! I just saw your Pothos post and it's the same thing with that. Just be sure to use distilled or rain water for the calathea. The Pothos will be fine tap water will not hurt a Pothos.

@CutePolypremum Your so sweet, thank you โค๏ธ
Do you mist them? If so, be sure to use distilled water, otherwise mineral deposits will form
