Mold?
#Canna hi! should I be concerned about this green mold looking stuff? There are some tiny little fungi but I thought those were βgood signsβ. Does this mean Iβm over watering or that I need more drainage? Or is this actually a good thing ?

@DivineMelon93 So the video I used earlier this year has been privated, but this one is close enough and explains why itβs important https://youtube.com/shorts/boDq_2C9wSc?si=IKXF0ZI2BIi0TZ6Q
Her video I used included potting soil, orchid bark, coco fiber (coir), perlite, and small amount of mosquito bits (anti-mosquito lumps that are a bacteria that only affects mosquito and gnat eggs (I donβt have a single gnat anymore))

Iβd say yes. I just got out of a mold problem with my indoor plants after an extension on the dining room removed all air flow to that window. Even if that mold isnβt directly hurting your plants, itβs a sign that the environment is perfect for harmful mold on the leaves, in the roots, etc. Also you probably have annoying fungus gnats, and you shouldnβt be breathing in mold spores.
I threw out the moldy soil on top first to get it out of the house. I changed my soil to a chunky soil mix, I started watering less, and I keep a fan running on them like 5 hours a day.
Iβll find the video about making a chunky soil mix

I know I suggested a lot of changes, but donβt get intimidated. If all you do is change your watering schedule, Iβm sure itβll be fine. I just donβt want you breathing in fungus spores, so try to clear out the mold and mushrooms
Itβs a super easy plant. We have a bunch of orange canna lilies around the yard that started as one tiny baby we got after I dog sat for a couple who had like 9 square feet of cannas together. That was like 15 years ago. We dug some up before a freeze a few years ago and left them in pots. Thereβs still some in ground. They come back no matter what happens. It would take effort to get rid of them if we wanted to.
