Etiolation (lace aloΓ«) and grows pups at the stem?

Hello all,

New here, my daughter bought a succulent a few years ago (see added picture). It grew a pup at its base which she didn't like, so I took it and had it grow roots....and in came Darwin. Darwin was in a small shot glass of water in the middle of our living room (not near a window) and when I realised it was starting to reach for te light I put it in soil an placed in the windowsill. (Yes I realise it is still not situated in a South window, quite the opposite actually)

So it has been there now for a few months. It stopped reaching for as far as I can tell....but this morning I noticed it was having offsets in it's armpits at the stem .... So I asked my daughter if she remembered where this one grew, near the base...

Then I started googling. Came across what plant it actually was and the term etiolation (the process was already familiar to me because I grow vegetables).

I've found instructions on how to fix Darwin. Which I am certainly planning to do. However, I can't find information anywhere on the peculiar place it grows it's offsets...

So I actually would like to know what is best, would it be okay to "save" Darwin en will the pups be okay if I try to propagate them with the leave they are attached to? Or should I wait until the pups are bigger? Though I suspect they won't grow their own roots if they are not near soil?

I have had my lace aloe for a year, but I have never had a pup grow 😭. From what I have experienced with me and my mother’s plants, they need to grow a little bit before propagating ☺️. Hope this helps!!
I don’ t not much about succulents, but oh my gosh, it is so pretty οΏΌ
So I have been waiting for them to grow a bit. And today Darwin was like this!

And because of the anomalous growth place of the pups and of course the etiolation I've decide to follow this instructions for Darwin and the pups.

An I ended up with Darwin looking a lot better, 31 possible new ones and a stem with roots in a pot that might create some more pups 🀭.

The hardest part of this is however to NOT water the pups and Darwin for 7 days!!! It's so hard, because it is ingrained in me that you need to give (baby) plants water when you repot them πŸ˜
