Money tree getting yellowing leaves

Hi there,

Recently my money tree has been getting yellow leaves.

I usually wait until it's mostly dry before I water. It's potted in two parts soil one part perlite. It dries out about once a week and is about 3 meters from a south western facing window. It does get some direct sun rays.

Could the BB sun rays be the issue?

Exactly. These guys need a heavy water (so their trunk can absorb the amount of water those insanely thirsty leaves require) and they will not tolerate being touched by the sun's rays. The brown is sunburn (the leaves will just fall off or you can pluck them easily) and remember to allow the trunk to absorb water (so be certain to really soak that soil when you water). They're a great hardy plant.😍
@plantstate okay, I used to water them when 2/3 of the soil was dry. But it was still getting occasional yellowing leaves so I thought I was going too heavy on the water.

It sounds like my approach with watering them was correct before so I will resume that approach.

I will move the plant away from the sun rays as well! Thank you!

I only water my money tree when it is bone dry, a "1" reading on my moisture meter. Because the trunk stores water, you do not need to water it often. I would check your roots for rot and decrease your watering frequency. When you do water, drench the soil until water runs out the bottom of the pot and then let the water drain for some time before returning it to its decorative pot.
Okay so I didn’t do any of the β€œright” stuff. Mine is happiest in a LARGE pot in the sunniest spot in the house. 6+ hours indoor but facing a big northeast facing window. The leaves seem to like being misted, but they do not like to be too close to one another. Mine is 4 years old and if I rotate it every couple days it sprouts and grows up and out beautifully
I will add that what Christine said about the base needing lots of water makes sense. I’m a chronic over-waterer but never had this problem with my Ke$ha

How is your money tree doing when you're watering it better and keeping out of direct sunlight?
@plantstate I'm still keeping an eye on things but it seems to have stabilized. I might cut back the branches in the spring so it can look bushier again
