@Organicallymade looks like new growth/ sucker (that is what I call anything growing at the base). I usually let tomatoes and peppers just grow wild as long as it produces. You will need to get some type of tomato fencing ( idk what it is called).
No not at all! It’s just growing lower leaves πŸƒ and starting to get better! However I learned that last year that if you are planting multiple tomato πŸ… plants, you have to give the more space because it will give you more tomatoes. Hope this helps!
Pruning tomatoes is helpful to producing higher yields, proximity to one another isnt that detrimental is there is good air flow, proper pruning , and adequate and consistent feeding and water. My 3 cherry tomatoes are planted very closely together and are about 7 feet tall & give me 6 to 18 tomatoes every 24 to 48 hours
