I don’t know what to do with Coco. I’ve never had a plant...

#SpoonLeavedSundew
0ft to light, indirect
3” pot with drainage
Last watered 2 weeks ago
@FastRedhill Hey! They absolutely would love to be under a grow light these guys NEED light and water! You can't overwater them so just stick them in a nice tall skinny pot like this in a bowl of distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater! The hairs on the leaves will turn red and get dewy and that's how you'll know you're giving it proper care!
@PleaseLeaf do you feed yours?
Also if they throw out a flower stalk (yeah it's ridiculously long) you can cut it. Most people do because it requires a lot of nutrients!
@PleaseLeaf I need to research this little thing more. Any suggestions??
@FastRedhill I don't feed mine and I don't feed any of my CPs but if you'd like to you can give them maxsea 16-16-16 at a dilution of 1/4 teaspoon per gallon and use a dropper to apply it to the leaves or carefully mist it on your plant but avoid getting it in the soil because fertilizer can burn their roots. There's a ton of videos on YouTube and a lot of forums you can read but if you go on California Carnivores website they have all kinds of very useful info and it's pretty easy to navigate (plus who knows maybe you'll get it a friend)
@PleaseLeaf thank you so much for your help!!
@FastRedhill psst how's it going so far?
@PleaseLeaf well it’s looks like it’s going to be okay. There’s a bunch of new leaves coming through but there are also some brown ones.
@FastRedhill if the leaves towards the bottom of the plant are browning then that's normal because new growth comes in on the top. Mine honestly looked raggedy for the first 2-3 weeks that I had it (was still winter though too) so it's definitely a good sign it's putting out growth! If the "hairs" start turning red and getting dew drops on the ends of the hairs then you know you're nailing it!
@PleaseLeaf she does look raggedy and I’m hoping she continues to get better. I’ve only had her for two weeks now. I’m quite intrigued by this little β€œ creature”!
